This is a handsome abelia. with long lance-shaped leaves with creamy edges and stalks that are red when young. It is very picturesque and pretty close up, however, viewed from a distance, as in a border, the colour breaks up into a textured pattern.
In autumn, there are little pale pink, tubular flowers but these tend to get lost in all the foliage detail. This is a good plant for a container where the glossy, elegant leaves can be seen to their best advantage.
