ABIES alba 'Pectinata'

'European Silver Fir'. The common species of Europe, being particularly predominant in the mountains of France, Switzerland and Germany. A large or very large tree with smooth, grey bark when young. Leaves 2-3cm long, in 2 usually horizontal ranks, dark shining green above, marked with 2 glaucous bands beneath. Cones cylindrical, 10-16cm long, greenish-brown when young.
