AKEBIA trifoliata

An elegant climber up t 9m in a tree. Leaves trifoliate, with broadly ovate, shallowly lobed or undulate leaflets. Flowers dark-purple, male and female produced in a drooping raceme in April. Fruits sausage-shaped, often in groups of 3,7.5-13cm long, pale violet, containting black seeds in a white pulp.
