GINKGO biloba

'Maidenhair Tree'. A medium-sized to large, deciduous tree of conical habit when young. Easily recognised by its peculiar fan-shaped, individed leaves which turn a beautiful clear yellow before falling in autumn. Perfectly hardy and suitable for most soils. The fruits are produced in pairs or threes at the end of a slender stalk, ripening and falling in autumn, when, if crushed, they emit a strong offensive odour.((5)
